Forgotten like the most of the historical and (especially) poor buildings – complex in our country, Harmaina stands still with its colours, its smells and especially with its sounds remind us the characteristic era at least for the middle Greece after the freedom for Turkey.

In this area used to live Tabakides (people who made leather), Koudounades (people who made bells), Tsarouchades (people who made rustic shoes) and Skiniades (people who made rope). According to historical evidence Tabakides were working with leather before 1600 A.C. It was written that “…the whole market lived by them”. The historical residential complex of Charmaina which unravels around wells of fresh water as well as the characteristic form of raw land motivates the activity of PROMITHEAS S.A.

The raw land appears to be anti – seismic as it is gives birth to constructions with flexible static system. It is also appears bioclimatic interest for very hot as well as very humid climates, because it is enclose coolness during the summer and heat during the winter. The usage of mudstones represents the cultural and social character of the area. Charmaina is the only one town in Greece which consists of 40 buildings made of mudstone.

The renovation of this residential complex – alive museum – took place with extremely care in order to touch the brilliant system of those people who strangle with the nature elements, earth, water, fire, in order to tame it, cover their needs, make civilization.

The old tannery at the entrance of the residential is where the headquarters of our company locates, contributing in the preservation of a unique residential which honors its history, while the non-visual technological interferences increase the durability of the mudstone.
